Katelyn Dawn

Katelyn's dream is to share her musical gift with the world. She has been gifted with an amazing ability to express her emotions and life's many experiences through music both passionately and honestly. Powerful melodies and thought provoking lyrics on her debut album "Open your Eyes" take you through a tour of human emotion resulting in a fresh unique sound.

She began writing & performing music at the age of 14.  Katelyn's early influences are artists such as Jewel, Sheryl Crow, Chantal Kreviazuk, Sarah McLachlan and Michelle Branch to name a few.  She has also studied voice with Sheila Ardies and Michelle Sawatzky, but is self-taught on guitar.  She started off with her acoustic guitar busking at Winnipeg's Forks Market and various local venues.   In the fall of 2005 Katelyn sought out Winnipeg producer, John Paul Peters to work together with her on her debut CD.  The final result of a year of writing and 3 months in the studio was her debut album, 'Open Your Eyes'.  Since the release of her debut album, her first single, ‘Whatcha Got’ has had successful radio play in Winnipeg, landing in the top 9 @ 9 on Hot 103 several times.  CBC Radio Canada has added her to their rotation across Canada and it’s also been featured on various other radio stations across the country.
